Recycled Bird Boxes ‘Reclaimed Morphosis’

Recycled Bird Boxes ‘Reclaimed Morphosis’

For this award-winning installation, Jennifer created a series of six impactful, architectural birdhouse sculptures, each standing between 1.8 to 2 metres high. Rooted in a sculptural and sustainable garden design philosophy, the work celebrates both nature and reuse, blending reclaimed materials with modern artistic interventions. Each birdhouse is inspired by the sea and dockside environment—referencing coloured shoreline housing, buoys, anchors, beach huts, and maritime elements. Vibrant colours were carefully chosen to reflect local visual references, such as the green of shipping markers, yellow racing buoys, and the iconic Belfast Harland and Wolff cranes. The structural bases, designed for simple ground insertion, elevate the pieces within Ards and North Down Council’s Walled Garden, offering height, perspective, and practical protection from predators..
